Civilian Complaint Review Board — DEA Meets with CCRB OfficialsFebruary 24, 2016
The latest CCRB overreach is a case involving Queens Narcotics. CCRB substantiated charges against two Detectives after IAB already exonerated them.
On Tuesday, March 1st, 2016, the DEA met with CCRB officials and some of the topics discussed included: video tape disclosures; training for CCRB investigators; and transparency of the CCRB Board members voting on substantiated cases. DEA representatives at CCRB will no longer be reading a statement into the record prior to all hearings conducted at CCRB. The statement was to address the conflict of interest we believed existed with the current chairman, Richard Emery. It was discovered that Mr. Emery’s law firm was representing plaintiffs in civil lawsuits against a Sergeant and a Lieutenant who had substantiated CCRB cases. Emery has since issued a statement declining to represent plaintiffs. It is not yet known if Mr. Emery’s firm has commenced any lawsuits against members of the DEA.
