Cause of Death: Illnesses contracted as a result of work on the rescue and recovery from the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001.

Det. first grade Andrew L. Siroka retired on December 18, 2009 out of the Department of Investigation Squad. Siroka joined the Police Department as a Cadet at age 19 in 1965 and was appointed on December 18, 1967. He was promoted to Detective in August of 1979, earned second grade in February 1988, and first grade in April 2001. A 42-year veteran of the NYPD and a longtime DEA union Delegate, Siroka served in several commands during his career and made 26 arrests. He served in the Department of Investigation for the last 30 years. He also was a longtime member of the Honor Legion, serving as its President from 2009 until his passing on January 25, 2016 as a result of his work on the rescue and recovery from 9/11.
