Det. first grade Joseph A. Cavitolo was assigned to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Public Information when he passed away on October 25, 2013 as a result of his work on the rescue and recovery from 9/11. Cavitolo joined the New York Police Department on October 15, 1990. During his 23-year career with the NYPD, Det. Cavitolo served in the 78 Precinct and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. Cavitolo made 33 arrests over the course of his time with the Department, and was recognized six times for Excellent Police Duty.
