Det. Brown was a WWII veteran and a member of the famed “Harlem Hellfighters,” the fighting 369th Infantry Regiment, the 15th New York National Guard, renowned for spending more time in combat than any other regiment during the Second World War.
Det. Brown was appointed to the NYPD in 1948, and was he was promoted to Detective in 1965. During his career, Brown worked mostly at the 79th Precinct in Brooklyn, but also spent time at the 104th Precinct in Queens, and retired out of the 25 Squad in Spanish Harlem. He retired in 1969. He passed away in 2016.
