The route begins at the North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place and takes 5,000 participants through Battery Park, finishing adjacent to the Memorial.

This year, the run/walk is dedicated to the service and sacrifice of thousands of men and women who worked tirelessly during the rescue and recovery operations of 9/11. In the weeks and months following 9/11, the West Side Highway was transformed into “Hero Highway,” with crowds lining the busy road to cheer and wave banners while thousands of rescue and recovery workers traveled to Ground Zero, the Freshkills Landfill, and The Morgue.

Volunteer on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at North Cove Marina at 225 Liberty Street (lower Manhattan). Check-in is at 7:00 a.m. Volunteer shift runs 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wear DEA clothing and cheering sections along the 5K route
