Det. Anthony Ribustello of the Crime Scene Unit, and a 17-year veteran of the NYPD, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. His colleagues are also creating a challenge coin and tee shirt for fundraising efforts. An online store link will be forthcoming. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Anthony Ribustello is a loving husband, as well as a father to his five-year-old daughter. Anthony was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer known as MPAL Leukemia. At age 41, Anthony is one of only 66 known cases of this disease. Upon diagnosis, his health declined rapidly, leaving him confined to a wheelchair, unable to open his right eye whenever he wasn’t admitted to the hospital for the extensive chemotherapy treatments necessary to prepare him for a bone marrow transplant. After waiting months for a donor, Anthony underwent a bone marrow transplant and, unfortunately, the donor was mismatched. This left Anthony severely immune-compromised, resulting in more than 100 additional days in the hospital followed by weekly doctor appointments for post-transplant treatment and assessment. Anthony and his family are accruing extraordinary expenses battling this disease.
